Six people have died when a gas cylinder exploded at a restaurant in the northwest Czech city of Mosty, setting the building on fire, announcing emergency services Sunday.
Eight people were injured by the fiery explosion that occurred late Saturday evening, and 30 people were evacuated from the restaurant and surrounding buildings, the Czech fire rescue service reported Reuters.
“According to initial information from witnesses, a heating device has been overturned by triggering fire”, firefighters have said.
Interior Minister Vitt Rakusan has also told Czech Radio that the cause will likely be a gas heater that has been overturned in the restaurant's front yard.
The fire brigade said it had saved a heavily injured guest in a restaurant who was trapped in a bathroom. About 20 guests were at the restaurant at the time of the explosion, the Czech Radio reported.
