Australia is in a period of high-risk fire, and firefighters last week put out a fire in the Grammian National Park in Victoria, which destroyed houses and agricultural land, the AP reported.
State mathematicians have warned that temperatures can reach 45 degrees in parts of Victoria today. Forecast for the state capital, Melbourne, predicted 38 degrees.
Because of the heat, total fire bans are placed in three circuits in Victoria, where authorities have labeled the risk of fire as “extrem”, the second highest level of risk.
Western Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania were also under heat wave warnings Sunday, the Bureau of Meteorology said on its website.
In recent years, fires in Australia have been smaller compared to the period 2019-2020, during which an area the size of Turkey was destroyed, 33 people died and millions of animals died. /euronews
