Trump is the first president elected in over a century to invite foreign leaders to his sworn-in ceremony, according to American media.
Historically, foreign diplomats and ambassadors have participated in this event.
It is unusual to have such a kind of foreign [leader] participants, because inauguration is seen as an internal political event”, said Kayce Myers, professor in Virginia Tech, who focuses on meeting public relations with politics.
Among the foreign leaders invited is conservative Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and the right-wing community president of Argentina, Javier Miel. Also invited is Chinese Deputy President Han Zheng.
There will also be politicians and businessmen from Kosovo at Trump's inauguration.
Trump “uses these major events, such as inauguration, as an opportunity to create connections and find common language”, said Myers. “It's a very unique way to deal with diplomacy and it's a way that has roots in business”.
Other VIP guests at the inauguration include the biggest names in the US technology industry, including the owner of X and Tesla, Elon Musk, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, and the Amazon company's Jeff Bezos.
Apple, OpenAI, Uber and TikTok leaders reportedly accepted invitations as well.
Some of these companies have made donations to the Trump inauguration fund, which has raised a record total of over 170 million dollars.
Since 1981 the inauguration has been held on the western front of the Capitol, where a platform for this event is built that can accommodate over 1,600 people.
Among the participants are usually the outgoing and distant president and vice president and their families; the elected president and vice president, elected along with their families; the former presidents with their wives; members of the cabinet and nominated; the 535 members of Congress; the nine members of the Supreme Court; the foreign ambassadors; members of the army's General Staff; and other guests, including close advisers and friends of the visiting president, but also great and famous donors.
The celebrities reportedly will participate in the Trump inauguration include the former boxing champion, Mike Tyson, as well as other athletes and musicians.
Several Democrat members of Congress, including Nancy Pelosi, one of the most powerful figures in the party, has reportedly not to participate in the inauguration.
Other prominent people who will not attend this event include the first one, Michele Obama.
Because of the cold weather, the inauguration will be kept inside the Capitol building for the first time since 1985, Report REL.
