AIP urges political parties to protect citizens' personal data during campaign

The Information and Private Agency has called for political parties to protect personal data during the campaign for the February 9th elections. Under law enforcement supervision, the protection of personal data of citizens, the Agency for Information and Private in recent years has accepted complaints addressed by citizens to political parties [...]
“Under law enforcement supervision, respectively, the protection of personal data of citizens, the Agency for Information and Private in recent years has accepted complaints addressed by citizens to political parties for the use of personal data of citizens unauthorizedly, applying direct marketing, which cases have been dealt with due to the law. ”
The AIP has asked political parties not to expose information to people during communication via e-mail, messages and phone calls without prior consent.
“to ensure law enforcement, personal data protection and simultaneously to avoid any action of the Agency towards Political Party and subjects involved in the electoral campaign process, the Agency requires the Political parties to implement legal obligations for protecting personal data of citizens by not exposing personal data during electronic (email) communication, messages (SMS) and telephone calls, without prior consent. ”
“Agency offers co-operation with political subjects to ensure respect for the right to protect the personal data of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and calls for any personal information collected during the voter registration process to implement communication with citizens during election campaign activities to be used in line with legal requirements. ”
