The survivor, whose identity was not shown, has shown how, when she was only 11 years old, she, her mother, and her sisters, like many other girls and women, were divided into school classes.
She has said that they have been closed for three days at that school and that she still remembers it, although only 11 years old, the fresh air when it came out.
Imagine an 11-year-old little girl who doesn't understand the world. I don't know what war is. I saw the fear of nana and others, and the long columns, and I understood what happened”.
They took us to a school and told us to wait there. When they started taking us and putting us in school, I still don't understand what's going on with us. We were divided into classrooms, and there I was in a classroom with my sisters and my mother. I haven't had the power to stop them, but not the others that were bigger than us. We have been left in school for three days in a row, along with many other”, she said.
On Thursday, Medica Gjakova has published the report on the long-term consequences of war rapes in Kosovo, “I am not guilty of what happened to me”, given the testimony of 200 survivors of sexualised violence, of them 191 women and 9 men. Research has focused on the psychological, physical and social consequences of victims of sexual violence.
Research has found that 86% of survivors have post-traumatic, or simple or complex stress, 96% of them have high anxiety levels and over 70% have claimed that after the war their lives were not worth it.
