Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, during a speech at the Kosovo Summit for Peace and Democracy, has questioned the Kosovo government's decision to appoint a regional road by the name of the murdered police official “Afrim Bux1>.
Speaking of the ethno-nationalist narration that is prevalent both in Kosovo and Serbia, the German diplomat asked that “a should take place the appointment of a road to Banja on the day of the anniversary of the late police officer”.
“I am not so sure of this”, he said of the Kosovo Summit for Peace and Democracy, titled “Realties radical: the ethno-political dynamic and Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans”.
Rohde, among other things, pointed out that the biggest obstacle to normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is “total lack of political will”
“What we need is integration, reconciliation and compromise to achieve such a solution is on the table”, he said, referring to the Brussels/Ohri Agreement.
The German diplomat also praised that “has no alternative for dialogue”.
“We have the Brussels/Ohri agreement to re-age. Kosovo should be active with the issue of the Serb majority Commission Association, as it is a path that enables the integration of Serbs”, he added.
