Yesterday, police have placed partial obstacles to the Brnjak Bridge to prevent smuggling of goods.
But more obstacles are expected today on the roads where there is opportunity for smuggling.
Police Deputy Director for the North Mitrovica region Veton Elshani has confirmed the news.
The “are over 60 illegal routes used for the passage of goods smuggling. Over 25 roads we have blocked, so we will continue our work under the law and that in that area we have more smuggling with goods. It will not present difficulties for citizens to move in small cars because it is not a formal crossing point, but we consider it large in preventing criminal acts involving smuggling of goods”, Elshani said.
Security Affairs expert Burim Ramadani has spoken about these obstacles that are expected to be imposed.
Ramadani said the partial deadlock of roads to prevent smuggling should be assessed in line with the proportion between the amount of smuggling and police capacities.
He said that with the roadblocks blocked, police are showing that smuggling is too big.
“Partial blocking of roads to prevent smuggling should be assessed in line with the proportion between the amount of smuggling and police capacities. Beyond the issue of how this will be perceived in the population, I believe police (doing this) are showing that smuggling is too big. Consequently, it turns out that smuggling is much greater than police capacity to stop it without partial deadlocks” declared Ramadan for “Gazeta Blic”
Ramadani said the police's recent actions are denying political rhetoric that smuggling in the north is over.
Over the past few years, every day we have heard that smuggling and crime in the north is over. I believe police are denying the entire political rhetoric” said Ramadani
