The head of the Pristina municipality, Progress Rama, has said the problem of wandering dogs in the capital is being solved, as he announced the inauguration of the Centre for the Treatment of Eddacak Dogs.
He has said that soon the carrying of stray dogs from the capital's streets to this healing centre will start, and then to the lower part of the Centre where the housing share for about 350 dogs is finalised.
According to Rama, this Centre will have an important role in the safety of citizens by reducing the number of dogs on the street and caring for their welfare.
The “dogs will be kept in the housing section until their adoption. As the opinion is known, dogs who are adopted will be treated free in this centre for their entire life span, as well as owners will receive 50 euros a month for each adopted dog from Capital”, Rama wrote.
He has called on the Government to make a priority in addressing the problem of wandering dogs at the Kosovo level by supporting municipalities with financial resources and others.
Without such commitment, the problem cannot be solved at the national level. The capital will continue to work on creating a safe environment for all citizens”, it says in its post.
