Police with operational plans for warning of roadblocks in Serbia

Kosovo police have drafted an operational plan, following warnings from the so-called “Organising Council for Blockade” for roadblocks leading to the Merdar border crossings, Jarinje and Bernjak. Chairman of the so-called “Mitrovica District Citizens' Association for Kosovo”, Rasa Guardwiq, has announced that the multiday blockade of points [...] will begin today.
Chairman of the so-called “Mitrovica District citizens' associations for Kosovo”, Rasa Guardwiq, have announced that the multiday border checkpoints towards Kosovo will begin today.
Serbian media report that the guardvic has said the blockade will be organised by local citizens' associations from Kosovo, and that four of the five border crossings from the direction of central Serbia and Montenegro will be blocked.
“Blokada will begin at 6600 and will last until Kosovo police forces withdraw from northern Kosovo. We also demand that KFOR take over northern Kosovo”, he has stressed.
According to him, blockades will last until citizens' demands are met.
From the Kosovo police, they have said that, as often, even now they plan action.
Police Deputy Director for the Northern Region Veton Elshani said police have operational plans and do not catch something by surprise.
Always when we have information that something could happen, we have operational plans that don't surprise us if we have border checkpoints”, Elshani declared.
KFOR has reacted to this warning.
According to them, it is important to avoid actions that can cause unnecessary tension.
“This is the key to sustainable security in Kosovo and regional stability”, KFOR's response said.
