President Vjosa Osmani has been invited to think tank “Cuncil on Foreign Reviews” in New York, where she talked about Kosovo's relations with Serbia, as well as her role in the international arena.
Osmani said the goal of Kosovo institutions is the integration of Serbs into society and institutions, but says Serbia and its president, Aleksandar Vuciq, are hindering it.
She spoke of Belgrade-controlled criminal gangs that intimidate Serbian citizens in northern Kosovo, citing the killings of politicians, the burning of houses and other methods of intimidation and blackmail.
“Not allowing them [Kosovo Serbs] to integrate into Kosovo institutions, they tend to use the same instruments they have used in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They tend to destroy Kosovo from the inside. And the more Kosovo Serbs are not integrated the more Serbia will use “Putin's” arguments that we will protect the minority community. In fact, all they care about is their territory. All they care about is to push ahead the crime-style annexation plans until they care about the rights of Serbs living in Kosovo”.
Osmani said tensions in the country's north are created only by a source é “that is Serbia because Vuciqi is the boss of these criminal gangs, because they finance them, support them politically, control”.
And the second is Vuciqi, the man who politically tries to hold Kosovo Serbs hostage by not allowing them to integrate into what is today the best constitution for protecting minority rights in Europe”.
Osmani said that “we don't want anyone to go through what we've been through. We know what it is to live in constant discrimination. We want everyone to feel equal and secure and have the potential to succeed”.
