Luhrmann: CEFTA deadlock endangers the Berlin Process, we need a constructive Kosovo

“Blocking of the regional organisation CEFTA risks failing the Berlin Process and also preventing further our regional co-operation”, said German State Minister for Europe and Klime Anna Luhrmann, who has called on the Government of Kosovo to engage quickly in a solution that allows it to move forward.

At the opening of Kosovo's Sustainable Development Week, Luhrmann has said that working together for Kosovo's green and prosperous future within the European Union needs Kosovo to be constructive for all regional issues.

“We will also strengthen Kosovo as an investment country for German and other international companies eager to invest here in the energy and climate transition... Together we will work for Kosovo's green and prosperous future within the European Union. Now, to do that, we also need a Kosovo that is constructive for all regional issues ... And to bring Kosovo closer to the EU, this kind of regional co-operation is key. Currently, as you know, regional co-operation and organisation CEFTA is still blocked. Manuel Sarrazuz is working hard to unlock CEFTA and is trying to find the best possible solution for Kosovo”, it has declared.

The minister has added that Sarrazin has full support of the German government, adding that “we are feeling a continuing blockade that risks failing the Berlin Process and further preventing regional co-operation”.

Therefore, we also call on the Government of Kosovo to now engage quickly in a solution that allows us to move forward and get closer together, and always remember that Germany is the close friend of Kosovo and will always stand next to you”, she has said.
