The United States said it encourages respect for the judicial process and the rule of law, as Kosovo filed an indictment concerning the September 24th attack of Zvecan Banjska.
“As far as the Kosovo indictment is concerned, we encourage respect for the judicial and rule of law process and for patience as this complex case is prosecuted in courts. The US continues to strongly support rule of law, equal justice and good governance in Kosovo”, a spokesman for the US State Department said. Radio Free Europe.
From the UN, they said they expect Serbia to seek full responsibility for persons involved in last year's September attack.
On 24 September last year, a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police in northern Kosovo, killing Sergeant Africa Buxaku. Three Serb attackers were also killed during the subsequent clashes.
During this week, the Kosovo Special Prosecutor filed charges against 45 people for the attack.
Kosovo considers this attack a terrorist, while state leaders accuse Serbia's state of organising the attack.
Milan Radociq, former deputy chairman of the Serbian List, has claimed responsibility for the attack. He, in the indictment, is named as the “head of the terrorist group”.
The establishment of the indictment for the armed attack on Banjska has also been welcomed by the European Union, which brokers dialogue on normalising reports between Kosovo and Serbia.
The EU said those responsible must face consequences after Kosovo's judiciary announces its decision to them, while the bloc's spokesman, Peter Stano, said Brussels has repeatedly urged Serbia involved in this attack to be brought to justice.
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said on September 13th that Serbian authorities are investigating the attack in Banjska.
He said this attack, for Serbia, is not <x0-terrorist”.
However, I do not want to expand further and explain again who is guilty of this and who brought this situation”, Vuciq said during an address.
Radojic is believed to be in Serbia. Meanwhile, the other defendants, according to the indictment, are all on the run except for the three persons in custody in Kosovo: Vdalmir Tolliq, Blagoje Spasojevicq and Dusan Maksimovic. / REL
