Christoph Heusgen, who has been in this position since 2022, will resign as chairman, while Wolfgang Ischinger will remain president of the Munich Security Conference Foundation Council.
Stoltenberg, former prime minister of Norway, has been secretary general NATO since 2014. It will be replaced in the transatlantic military alliance by former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on 1 October.
