Import attains record 582m euros, leads goods from Turkey, China

The trade deficit has reached 9.4% in August 2024 compared to August 2023.
The data from foreign goods trade in Kosovo points to a 9.4% trade deficit in August 2024, in proportion to the same period in 2023, worth 498.5m euros, compared to the deficit of 455.8m euros in 2023. ”, says the ASS report.
While export covers import with only 14.4%. Exports of goods in August 2024 stood at 83.5m euros, while imported 582.0m euros, which is a 24.0% increase in exports, as well as an 11.2% increase in imports, compared to the same period in 2023.
While, according to key group data for import: 15.9% make up mineral products; 14.2% make up prepared foods, drinks and tobacco; 11.4% make up machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 10.4% make up basic metals and articles; 9.9% make up the means of transportation; etc.
Kosovo exports with other countries of the world reached 15.8m euros, or 18.9%. As more important partners from these countries for export were: Switzerland (10.1%) and the US (2.2%).
Kosovo imports with other countries of the world reached 264.6m euros, or 45.5%. The countries with the highest share in import in this group were: Turkey (15.1%) and China (12.9%).
