Last night it was reported that the US has cancelled training for the Kosovo Police. All this was said to result in the recent actions of the Kosovo government in the north.
But that was initially denied sources within Kosovo Police Special Units.
Even by the police themselves, today they were officially told that this does not stand.
From the American Embassy in Pristina, they also said there is no such decision.
The Embassy's Office for Communication has referred to a statement made on August 30th, which stated: “Government Action will also affect the quality and nature of our co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinates”.
In the course of this statement, the embassy also said they are conveying the developments, but that there is no decision to cancel training at this time.
“We are continuing to review this issue, and we have not made any decisions at this time”, Klonkosova said. television from the US Embassy.
In the response of August 30th, the embassy, among other things, had said: “While the United States government is proud to have supported the establishment and professionalism of the Kosovo Police over many years as part of our commitment to promoting security and stability, the government's continued instrumentisation of the Kosovo Police on the part of conducting packaged actions is not in line with Kosovo's promises to continue consulting and co-ordination with the international community. Government actions will also affect the quality and nature of our co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinates”.
And Kosovo police said today that they are continuing training with the US, but also said they take the American Embassy's statements that connect with the security field and its institution seriously.
In fact, the PK said it maintains continuous communication with them “to clarify everything that may have led to this perception and consultation for KP”.
“The KP takes on concern and is willing to prosecute everything that is necessary for possible misunderstandings to be eliminated and preserve our extraordinary partnership with the US. Kosovo police are guided by principles of accountability and transparency, so it is open and ready to offer wide opinion and media official information and statistics for training”, Kosovo Police have stressed.
