Trump escaped safely after a <x0-tension to kill him” at his Florida golf club on September 15th, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said, the FBI.
This incident, which occurred only nine weeks after Trump survived an assassination in Pennsylvania, has raised questions about the republican presidential candidate's security just 50 days before the highly polarised presidential elections in the United States.
The FBI and the state of Florida are investigating how a 58-year-old suspect was able to approach several hundred meters near Trump with a rifle and wax.
The FBI said it is conducting an investigation into its “that seems to be an attempt to kill former President Trump” and possible voting.
President Biden told reporters at the White House on Monday: “One thing I want to make clear, the [Secrity] Service needs more help, and I think Congress should respond to their needs”, Biden said.
Thank God the president is fine. I think we need more personnel”, he added.
After the incident, Trump exalted the Secret Service and the police, calling it a bold and dedicated <x0patriots=x1> to ensure his safety.
Neither the FBI nor the police have made known the suspect's name, but American media, like CNN, Fox News, CBS News and New York Times, have identified him as Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old Hawaiian resident.
Routh is a construction worker with a long history of trouble with police, according to public data. He moved to Hawaii a few years ago from North Carolina and expressed support for the Democrats and Ukraine in his accounts on social networks, including seeking the collection of money for Ukrainian protection.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's president, Voldymyr Zelensky, has said he feels happy that Trump is not damaged and that he is now secure.
“It is a very good thing that the assassination attempted suspect was soon arrested”, Zelensky said at X.
In Moscow, Kremlin said the suspect's connections with Ukraine were showing Washington “were setting fire to” with its support policy for Kiev, which is struggling to repel Russia's invading forces.
American media reported that Routh has often posted on the social networks for war in Ukraine, and there have been websites where it called for the collection of money and recruiting volunteers to go to Kiev to join the fight against Ukraine's full occupation, which Moscow launched in February 2022. /rel
