On a very busy agenda that starts Sunday with the upcoming summit and follows for several days, a meeting between European Union Foreign Policy and Security Chief Josep Borrell with the 6 leaders of the Western Balkans is also scheduled to take place.
According to the European Commission's announcement, the UN session in New York will be attended by a European Union high-level delegation, including Joseph Borrell and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen.
The EU's “Pokus will be dealing with conflicts and crises worldwide. In a bleak context of human and natural crisis, the EU and member states will focus on five key priorities: re-admission to the foundations of an international rule based on rules; support of international peace and security; advancing sustainable development and funding for development; addressing the triple planetary crisis; and promoting confidence through a more effective multilateral system of”, the European Commission's announcement notes.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has declared that the European Union and its Member States are coming to the 79th UN session determined to promote multilateral solutions based on the UN Charter and to make them operate for the benefit of all. “We cannot resolve the problems of the 21st century with the 20th century instruments” has been expressed by Secretary Guterres.
