The quake struck at a depth of 29 miles [29 km] and had reports of severe shocks and “severe average damage” in the nearest town of Petropavlovsk-Kachatsky, which has a population of more than 150,000 people.
According to Kamchatka (KVERT)'s volcanic eruption team, the aircraft has been issued a warning “the red code” -- the highest level of alarm -- for a considerable amount of ash in the atmosphere.
