Seduced by Kurt, pressured by Michael and the Board of RTKs since being forced to leave duty former director AhmetYekaj

Shkumbin Ahmetxekaj, on July 7th through a Facebook post, was directed to the public for resignation from the chief general's position in Kosovo Radio Television (RTK). He wrote. The departure said it was not his will, but the culmination of pressure. “This act is not a delivery and not [...]

The departure said it was not his will, but the culmination of pressure.
This act is not a surrender and does not reflect the personal will not to continue with RTK's direction, but it is the culmination of a seven-month political pressure resulting from deep disagreement with the Board on fundamental issues of walking away from public broadcaster”, he wrote.
Until tonight, Ahmetjekaj had not provided details as to what had happened to him.
But Ahmetjekaj indicated how Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti originally invited him to a December 2023 meeting Sunday.
The invitation was received for December 3, 2023, hoping, as he said, that Kurt was inviting him to discuss the increase in budget for RTK.
Ahmetxaj said that conviction had based on reforms and changes made to RTK.
He added that Kurti acknowledged that there are changes in RTK, but more is needed. And, as he adds, he mentioned changes in management that should occur.
At that moment, Ahmetjekaj says he has realized that he is being asked to leave and that in return an offer is being made.
As he says, Kurt had told him that “is good to represent Kosovo abroad”, but added that “is not seduced by political bids”, underlining that “will remain journalist”. Regarding this show moderator, he mentioned the post of ambassador to Portugal.
Former director of RTK stressed that there was no threat or direct request from Kurti, but the emphasis that change in management should be needed by referring to the composition correctly meant that his departure, which followed.
According to him, the meeting was followed by another meeting with Hajrullah Cekun, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Hajrula Ceku, who wanted to make sure Ahmetjekaj understood the message of the chief executive.
“We discussed the meeting of the day before what we understood, namely what would make me resign from the position of the General Director, because it is a general will to change RTK's management, have new directors and for RTK to advance away with anyone”, Ahmetxekaj said.
I was convinced that it's time for RTK to be given an additional budget and I said unfortunately RTK currently has the government budget, even though it would have to stem from the Kosovo Assembly, my conviction was that at this meeting I was getting invited to further clear the plan of why RTK should have an additional budget. Kurt acknowledged that there was a change in RTK, but he thought there must be a much deeper change, he relaxed the changes, he was informed of the reform I had introduced on the board and at a certain moment Kurti said the time has come for new changes in management, because, according to him, the moment had come for a new growth momentum of RTK and in a sense told me that I would probably be good for representation of Kosovo, where he mentioned it as the” option, Ahmetxekaj added.
Despite meetings with Ceku's Kurti, Ahmetxekaj says the demand for evacuation was actually made by Dejona Mihail of VVA, which, although he says he has never met, can confirm members of the RTK board.
Mihali, since the opposition is named as the “most powerful person after Kurti”, holds no state position, but according to Ahmetjekaj's version, it also has an impact on the RTK board through which he says his resignation has been requested.
Mihali's Grand Power is not myth”, says former director RTK joins many rumours that a person without an official position controls everything in Kosovo in a state where the parliamentary democracy system makes clear the division of powers.
The “has not asked me directly, asked board members to allow the dismissal or to resign”, he said. This is weird, I know there may be denials... Because when you've chosen an independent board, let's complete the mandate as such”.
Last week RTK was in the spotlight, following a news release published by this medium, referring to a Bosnian Controversist medium Slobodna Bosnaić, who unequivocally attributed Kosovo media “as linked to Serbia”.
Opposition parties, media and part of civil society publicly presented concerns that RTK “has been seized by power”.
In this story, he also spoke of Relind Grovall, the director of public television who defended the publication of the air news to the two Kosovo media <x0); National “ “Periscope”, calling it “Slobodna Bosnia” as credit.
Ahmetgekaj says Gervala has had sympathy for Vetevendosje Movement, but says they have found no evidence that it was part of it.
It's a fact that the Board with me was a task leader and then as general director we had a clear definition of depoliticizing RTK. Political employment has been followed in the past. But what happened to Riley Grovall is a step-by-step evolution, we didn't expect to have someone who has political convictions against a party that will be at the helm of some important dictatorship in RTK, such as television in this case”, has declared the former director of RTK.
And on the scandal of publishing the non-professional news at the Kosovo media, Ahmetxaj said the person who has taken responsibility would have to be dismissed.
“Anyone who assumes responsibility for publishing such news must be downloaded”, he declared.
This was not RTK's only controversial news, on February 10th of this year, even a news release for an assassination attempt on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in northern Macedonia.
Ahmetjekaj said television director Riley Gervalla has told him with a message that he will publish a news story and that he has safe sources.
The day it was published, the director of television wrote me, I was testing Radio Kosova's frequencies, so we were on the move, I saw a message:” There's going to be news, I have all the resources, I have it all under control. Director-in-chief has no access to editorial policies, I can take measures if principles are violated, but no shooting or taking this news. I met them the next day. The drill has discussed it with all levels, and the news has been shared with the public about the facts that have been offered. They say they've got photographs, they've got information, and they've developed it”, he has declared.
The resignations in RTK have not been halted, AhmetYekaj's successor, Zana Spahiu, resigned on 26 July of this year as chief General General General's task officer, despite not declaring her resignation linked to recent developments in RTK.
For recent developments, board of RTK's has formed a commission that will address all concerns, but Ahmetjekaj expressed scepticism in the effectiveness of such a commission.
He has said the scandal could be avoided by taking action immediately. Which hasn't happened, now nine days from the publication of nonprofessional news and attack.
