Germany's Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, has stressed that the only way for Balkan countries is regional co-operation, while saying it is leaving Kosovo concerned because “we are not yet there”.
Sarrazin has also called for compromise and readiness for concessions on political agreements, which, he said, are not easy for both Serbia and Kosovo.
One of my main jobs in the German government is preparing the Berlin Process. It will be the 10th anniversary of this process, which was launched to boost regional co-operation. The idea is for the six Western Balkan countries to draw close to the EU. For this, regional co-operation is very important”.
“The borders are becoming less important, trade, economic development and co-operation are important for this. I have visited Pristina today and will continue with visits to the Western Balkans to prepare concrete results for Balkan people to return to the streets to move forward. We need compromise and concession readiness for political agreements, which are not easy for either Serbia or Kosovo”.
I'm leaving worried we're not there yet. If we do not get better results before the October 14th summit, I am concerned that we have not achieved our goal that regional co-operation, the common regional market is the right format to achieve concrete results for Balkan people”, Sarrazin has said, EO reports.
He has said he has spoken with Prime Minister Kurti about it and that he will stop talking to other Balkan leaders about achieving the Berlin Process and regional co-operation.
