Konakovic discovered some details of his conversation with the American, naming the visit important.
This is a confirmation that the US holds these areas, particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina, top priorities. That means a lot to the stability of our region. The arrival of the CIA's first man is the most clear message of the American administration to all in the region and the world that the American administration is very present”, Konakovic told the Bosnian newspaper Avaz.
For the CIA director, he said that “well knows the situation”.
We talked about the processes in BiH, the importance of NATO and European integration, about what speeds and slows us down, and in some parts we have had the exchange of information that is not for the general public. However, there is only one confirmation that the US administration is seriously dealing with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is very encouraging”, Konakovic said.
“Avaz” writes that Burns will continue his visit to the region, going from Sarajevo to Belgrade. Asked whether this is a message for greater US focus in our region, Konakovic said:
Of course it is. They will go to several other destinations in the region, and this shows that they are looking at the Western Balkans region as a whole, which is very important to us. It is also important for us to calm the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, to calm down some hot spots, to address the economy and the future of this region, not the competition and constant shouting about historical facts. It is certain that even the American presence goes in that direction towards stabilising relations in the region and returning to what is most important for citizens”, Konakovic said.
