Kabashaj has confirmed his resignation for Nacional.
That's correct. I have resigned from the position of RTK Board member”, he said.
Kabashaj's resignation comes a day of Besnik Boletin and Arta Berisha resigned from the position of chairman and member of the Board.
Boletin indicated yesterday that his resignation is linked to the scandal of Slobodna Bosna's article published in RTK, where National and Portal Periscope were launched.
He has suggested that the report's findings clearly showed RTK violated professional standards. He has accused RTK deputy director Adi Krasta of not wanting to take action against those who caused the scandal.
We remember that the Organisation for Co-operation and Security in Europe (OSBE) has valued the resignation decisions, which it praised as decisions made in the interest of respecting the highest standards of ethical journalism and maintaining the integrity of public service media.
OSCE Posting:
The OSCE mission notes the resignation of the chairman of the RTK Board. Faithful Boletini and that of RTK Board member Mrs. Arta Berisha. We congratulate Mr. Boletini and Mrs. Berisha for their service and dedication to public broadcasting.
The OSCE mission respects their decisions as taken in the interest of respecting higher standards of ethical journalism and maintaining the integrity of the media of the public service.
The mission also underscores the importance of accountability and transparency for preserving public confidence in RTK and its commitment to impartial and responsible media reporting and public broadcasting.
It is now necessary for the KK to select new members of the RTK board as top priority as soon as it meets in order for the board to function again. The appointment of new board members and a new general director should be transparent and clearly based on merit.
