Pensioners call charity the amount of resources they receive from the Kosovo government.

They say they cannot carry out their expenses, because pensions are low until they are expressed disappointment at the current power for not increasing pensions. That the value of pensions should be increased and said by the opposition.

Pensioner Bajram Kastrati says the pension of 150 euros is not enough even for the purchase of drugs for him and his wife. He says that despite the high prices of food items and the electricity bill, the pension value is very small.

According to him, the pension should be at least 400 euros, because according to him, two Kosovo Assembly deputies spend that amount on breakfast.

My operation doesn't even go out on drugs to buy the woman I'm wearing on stickers. 150 euros, I'm with rheuma, it doesn't come out. This is not retirement, it's social aid, even social assistance is a little bit bigger. 150 euros, that's off any rating... prices not here, but over the roof are on. This is God's shame. 150 euros retirement, 140, goes to my wife to buy therapy. And some come in the electricity bill, under 50 euros you never came. Summer point 40 degrees temperature, 50 to 60 euros comes the electricity bill... the minuteum was supposed to be 400 euros in retirement. What are 400 euros, two deputies for two 400-euro breakfasts spend, never opening their mouths in the 48x1> assembly, Kastrati says.

Pensioner Fehmi Rexhepi considers the value of the pension payment is less than charity. He says that to make a normal living, retirement would have to be around 500 euros.

He criticised the current government for its failures in realising promises.

“absolutely not enough, it's less than charity. For 45 years of work, the faculty handles 265 euros. This is more than a crime. Others take it even less. At least the pension should be 500 euros, in order to have a normal, minimal, ordinary life... Can you cover your retirement expenses?

We're covering for the kids. Otherwise no one can cover the 200-euro pension expenses... like all the people, we are not happy at all. This is government and failure, the government, which since receiving the mandate has done no work, no project has realised. Fugitive promises have been given, the people have entrusted him to”, Rexhepi says.

Hisen Hiseni also points out that it is difficult to deal with 100 euros of retirement, while stressing that prices are generally high.

Hyseni says government officials are thinking only of themselves.

Where to cover (spents) with 100 euros. We're getting through the moment, what to do. Pension under 600 to 700 euros did not make it. Standards are high here, prices are high here... they're taking them for themselves. Either they take them for themselves or they raise us. What do we do”, potential Hiseni.

Meanwhile, former Economy and Finance Minister Haki Shatri says pensions contributed at least should be equal to minimum wages. According to him, retirement pensions have had to double.

“Repaying positions should at least be equal to minimum wage, at least. Old age pensions have had to double. Now the 100-euro value is no help for anyone. One hundred euros know what one age pension beneficiary can get for 100 euros, nothing”, Shatri points out.

Kosova Prees has sent questions to the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers if they plan to increase the value of pensions during the year 2024 and how much growth can be, but by the time this article is published, they have not returned.

For the last time, the Government of Kosovo in January 2022 has approved the proposal for increasing the amount of pension schemes. At the time, Finance Minister Iron Murati said no pension would be below 100 euros.
