Republic of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani announced earlier that she has scheduled February 9th for holding parliamentary elections.
Presidency spokesman Bekim Kupina wrote that this date was set after the president carefully examined the circumstances and issues to consider.
The president has held consultations with all political parties represented in the Parliament and has received different proposals, ranging from January 26th and February 2nd to February 9th to February 16th 2025. Regarding the date of the elections, the president has also had discussions with Central Election Commission Chairman, who has presented several technical and logistical aspects, which according to the CEC, would have to be considered prior to the signing of that decree”, Cupina said in its clarification.
He added that after reviewing all positions, February 9th 2025 was chosen as an optimum date that balances the preferences of all parties involved.
As for the election campaign, Cupina says it has been estimated that the same could begin on January 7th, after the end of several calendar holidays.
Likewise, Cupina warned that President Osmani will soon invite all political parties to sign a list of joint pledges.
“The president, shortly, will invite all political parties to sign a list of joint commitments, with which their commitment to maintaining the highest standards in this” election process is expressed.
