A powerful 5.2 magnitude earthquake of Rihter was recorded on Wednesday afternoon at 19:29 south of Crete, near Gavdos.
According to the revised resolution of the Geodynamic Institute, the quakes were recorded at an estimated focal depth of 11.6km, with an epidex of 15km. east of Gavdos Island.
The quake occurred 70 miles [71 km] south of Rethymnos, causing concern for residents.
The intensity of the earthquake has been strong, and according to information from the island of Crete, it has also felt very much in the city of Iráklio. So far there is no information about human or material harm. Experts are carefully following the phenomenon.
