The chief of the United Nations Nuclear Energy Agency, Rafael Gross, has arrived on Tuesday at the nuclear power plant in Kursk, which Moscow has said was repeatedly attacked by Ukrainian forces, which are only 25 miles [40 km] away.
Nuclear power plants have often been mentioned since the war in Ukraine began in February 2022.
After the invasion of Ukrainian forces in Russia, the attention started on August 6th has been turned to the nuclear power plant in Kursk, a major Soviet nuclear station.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine last week of trying to attack the Kursk plant, in which there are four Soviet reactors, of the same model as those at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
In 1986 that plant in Chernobyl had become one of the largest nuclear disasters.
Ukraine has not yet responded to allegations that it has attacked this area.
Ukrainian officials have said days ago that the Ukrainian Army is not aimed at occupying Russian lands, but at creating a neutral zone to prevent Russian attacks on Ukrainian soil.
Russia, on the other hand, has intensified attacks with fears and rockets in the past two days, in various regions of Ukraine.
The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.

The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
