Ambassador of the United States to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier has said Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has not received an invitation from the American government, but from the US National Democratic Institute (NDI) on the side of the Democratic Party, where Kamala Harris will accept the nomination as a Democrat candidate in front of Republican Trump, within the November elections held in the US.
As the Express newspaper on August 12th has reported, besides Kurt from Kosovo it will also be Democratic League Headship member Alush Gashi and Democratic Party of Kosovo Foreign Relations Secretary Bernard Nikaj.
Regarding Kurt's invitation, the US ambassador has been asked by Radio Free Europe, but the ambassador stressed that the invitation is not from the American government.
“As I know, Prime Minister Kurti plans to participate in the National Democratic Convention at the invitation of the National Democratic Institute ( UI National Democracy Institute. But to be clear, this is not an invitation from the U.S. government. The Democratic Party is a political party in the United States. The NDI is a supporter of the Democratic Party working on the construction of democratic parties and institutions abroad”.
“So the prime minister was invited by the NDI, I believe in his quality as head of one of the Kosovo parties, as well as The NDI has also invited leaders of other Kosovo parties. But this is not an invitation from the U.S. government”, the American ambassador said in part.
Among other things, Jeffrey Hovenier, has said the US government has been challenged by Prime Minister Kurti and his government “in several ways”.
The US criticises the Kosovo Government's actions in the north, which it calls the unilateral “”. These include the warning of the executive led by Albin Kurti of opening the book bridge.
The opposition in Kosovo criticises Kurti for “due to reports with the US”.
