Former Interior Affairs Minister Bejtush Gashi has warned consequences for Kosovo if the Ibri Bridge opens without co-ordination with internationals.
He has estimated that such an action would escalate tensions and the consequences would be irreparable.
During an interview for an interactive “ ” show on KTV, he has said the Government of Kosovo should consult with internationals on this issue.
Kosovo's “Government should necessarily consult such a decision with internationals and create preconditions for the bridge to be opened. If such a decision is made without co-ordination, it could escalate tensions with internationals and the consequences are unpredictable”, it has indicated.
Gashi has also cited KFOR's responsibility in this area.
If such a decision is not co-ordinated with internationals, the bridge issue will be complex and problematic. Article 137 of the Constitution says mission NATO is responsible for Kosovo's overall security, and if it is endangered, in all the plans we have like Kosovo, it is the third reacter. It has the responsibility to lower tensions and Kosovo institutions do not have the capacity to face a hypothetical situation resulting from internal tensions or international intervention”, Gashi has said.
