The closure of nine of Serbia's Post objects in the country's north on Monday, the European Union saw it as a unilateral and uncoordinated step, “, which violates agreements reached within the framework of EU facilitated dialogue”. The French Embassy in Kosovo has also emerged.
France's embassy in Kosovo said that “France fully supports yesterday's EU declaration of the closure by Kosovo authorities of nine postal facilities in Serbia's northern Kosovo. This is another unilateral and uncoordinated step, which is not in line with the EU facilitated dialogue and harms the Serb community”.
What did the EU say?
“as part of the Telecommunications Agreements reached in 2013 and the Action Plan agreed on in 2015, the two sides agreed to discuss postal services “in a later phase”, thus acknowledging that the issue could be addressed only within the framework of dialogue. Today, the Kosovo Electronic and Postal Services Regulatory Authority has accepted this again.
The EU is willing to include this issue in the agenda of the upcoming Dialogue summit. The EU expects the sides to develop constructive ideas that can serve as the basis for solutions.
Individual and uncoordinated actions cannot provide solutions to this or any other issue pertaining to the normalisation process between Kosovo and Serbia. The closure of existing Kosovo Serb services, without any new agreement agreed on, would negatively affect the daily life and living conditions of this community. We call on the Kosovo government to reconsider its decision and find a negotiated solution to the issue within the EU-enlightened Dialogue”, the European Union said in the statement Monday.
France also provides support to the EU station now on the clean by the Kosovo authorities of nine political factions of Serbia brands in the land of Kosovo.
