The European Union has made it clear that it requires Kosovo and Serbia urgently to start implementing the Brussels and Ohrid Enex, this Peter Stano's spokesman for this institution has told RTV Dukagjin.
Meanwhile, Kosovo state leaders said a few days ago that Serbia is the one that has given up this agreement, while connoisseurs of political developments in the country say that failure to comply with this agreement blocks Kosovo's integration path.
Serbia must return to the agreement, respect it in order to implement it,” said Prime Minister Albin Kurti for Voice of America.
Almost as did Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's request, but that of President Vjosa Osmani's previous days, the European Union has called for implementation of agreements reached in both Brussels and Ohrid.
However, the EU does not rule out either side. According to official Brussels, both Kosovo and Serbia urgently need to start implementing the annex achieved in Ohrid, Macedonia and those achieved in Brussels.
The EU's stance on implementing the Ohrid Agreement is very clear, has been communicated to all involved in some cases and has not changed: it should urgently be started with the implementation of this agreement and its annex. Progress in this direction is closely linked to progress on the road to EU membership in Kosovo and Serbia,” said EU spokesman Peter Stano.
Meanwhile, political analyst Africa Kasolli says no implementation of this agreement keeps Kosovo hostage.
“Since the failure to membership in the Council of Europe, it is clear that Kosovo remains hostage to the Euro integration agenda, without implementing the commitments and obligations stemming from the agreement and the annex of implementation in Oher,”.
Meanwhile, according to former diplomat Blerim Canay pressure for implementation of this agreement will increase, for both countries.
“Normically, there will be pressure because after all the agreement is more with the EU than we are with Serbia, because in the agreement we made and the implantation is done by them,” said Canay. The document, known as the Base Agreement, urges the parties to develop normal good neighbourly relations, the two sides are required to respect the integrity and territorial sovereignty of each other, the parties are required to recognise each other relevant documents and national symbols, including passports, diplomas, auto plates and customs stamps that are required for authorities in Kosovo, the point implies that Serbia recognises Kosovo's de facto citizenship.
