The first day of the National Democratic Convention (DNC) will begin Monday, August 19th, in Chicago with the “theme for People”, while thousands of politicians, delegates and speakers join after the Zv's nomination. President Kamala Harris as a candidate for President and Minister of Mines Governor Tim Walz, as candidate for deputy. President, November 5th election.

Harris joined the presidential race nearly a month ago after President Joe Biden stepped out of the race and approved it on July 21st.

Earlier this month, it secured the support of many delegates to become the Democratic Party candidate and is scheduled to officially accept the appointment in the DNC. The main part of the congress will be held at the United Centre, home to two professional sports teams in town The Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks, and has a capacity of more than 20,000.

The Convention will also honour the Benden legacy and is expected to present a high profile group of Democrats, both current and retired.

While the convention is expected to demonstrate unity among politicians and official party support for the Harris-Walz candidacy, pro-Palestinian protests, estimated to attract tens of thousands of people from nearly 200 groups, are scheduled to march outside the convention, urging the administration to end American military aid for Israel during the 10-month war.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protests have taken place throughout the country, calling for a ceasefire and for the US to stop Israel's support. Protests are in response to Israel's land and air offensives in Gaza following a Hamas attack on October 7th 2023 against Israel, which killed about 1,200 people and took about 250 hostage.

Since then, around 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and 2 million have been displaced, according to the Associated Press. Many protesters have been critical of the treatment of war by the Beden-Haris administration.

Protesters at a campaign rally in Michigan earlier this month interrupted Harris' speech, cheering, “Kamala, Kamala cannot hide! We will not vote for genocide”. She addressed the protesters, saying: “E know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I'm speaking”.

Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson told National Public Radio (NPR) on Saturday that “the preservation of the fundamental right to protest in this country is the reason why our democracy is functional and I will do everything in my power to ensure that the First Amendment of all residents, the people of this country, remains untouched”.

President Biden is expected to deliver the main speech his assistants told him about. The DNC will highlight the Biden-Haris administration record, its support for Harris and Wales, the importance of democracy and the need to defeat former President Donald Trump.

Harris will likely appear with Biden at some point Monday evening.

Former State Secretary and Democrat candidate for president Hillary Clinton will also speak that evening, according to Axios.

Tuesday, August 20th: “A bold vision of America's future”

The Democratic Governor of Illinois JB Prisker is scheduled to speak briefly Tuesday, according to Axios. In “State of the Union” of CNN on Sunday morning, Pritzker said the DNC will be “a rock-chro” concert with a celebration for the Harris-Walz candidates.

Former President Barack Obama and former Miss Michael Obama are scheduled to speak on Tuesday, according to Axois. Michelle Obama will speak to her husband. Beden served as Obama's vice president for two terms.

Wednesday, 21 August: “A war for our freedoms”

Former President Bill Clinton, Representative Nancy Pelosi and Transport Secretary Pete Buttigig are all talking on Wednesday evening, according to Axios and CNN.

The evening will begin speeches with Walz, which will keep his accession word as a candidate for vice president.
