British MP: Banjska must not repeat itself

Kosovo has close historical ties with the Labour Party in Great Britain. It was precisely the party's former historic leader, Tony Blair, who made an extraordinary contribution to the country's liberation in 1999.
The labists have returned to power in Britain after 14 years of conservative government.
Labour MP Alex Sobel says the new government in Britain will continue to be committed to helping Kosovo in these challenging times.
The government led by Labus in 1997 with central figures like Tony Blair, Robin Cook, were those who really fought for Kosovo's independence and we continue to keep this legacy in our party. I visited Pristina with our current European minister and current Minister of Armed Forces while we were in opposition. We met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and with many Kosovo Assembly deputies. We have made it clear that our support for Kosovo continues to be great. Recently we have strongly supported Kosovo's entry into the Council of Europe, lobbiing to those states that have not yet recognised the country's independence. We are making efforts to help Kosovo become a member of important international organisations. You can also see our contribution to KFOR forces to provide guarantees and security for Kosovo”, Sobel told Tv1.
Sobel values negotiations in Brussels as very difficult between Kosovo and Serbia.
However, he says there should be maximum efforts by Kosovo to normalise reports with the neighbouring state, as according to him there is no alternative other than dialogue.
Sobel has also spoken of the attack on Banjska, where he says such an incident in Kosovo should not be repeated.
We wanted to see the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia as soon as possible. Serbia is continuing to block Kosovo into membership in international organisations, and that is not good at all. I know the negotiations are extremely difficult in Brussels, but there must be maximum efforts to normalise relations by Prime Minister Kurti and Serbia's president, AleksandarVuchic. There are no other ways than dialogue to resolve differences because otherwise it would imply conflict and we should not go back there. I don't want to see any more incidents like it was in Banjska”, he said.
