More than a year since Arben Vitita promised the construction of Ferizaj Hospital, work has not yet begun

Health Minister Arben Year, in February 2023, after meeting with Ferizaj Community Chairman Agim Aliu, had promised that work would soon begin at the new facility of Ferizaj Hospital. But not that there is no start construction, but no re-projection for which a company had been engaged since March.

In March of this year, the Ministry of Health contracted the company “Vision Project” worth nearly 67 thousand euros to make the hospital reject.

It was expected to end at the end of July and would pave the way for work to be launched.

But a week ago the Ministry of Health changed the terms of the contract by extending the deadline to this company for two months.

This amendment was drafted based on the EMK ʹ contract manager's request of the date 02.08.2024 contract, which refers to the contract contractor's request of 10,07.2024, and summarizes the technical and procedural reasons for the need to extend the deadline for 60 days”, writes in the contract amendment “re-projecting of Feraja General Hospital”.

In the Ministry of Health, the project's deadline has been postponed due to technical reasons regarding the drafting of solutions for the stability of the object.

“The deadline for conducting the project has been extended for another 60 days due to technical reasons related to the drafting of solutions for the stability of the object and due to the delay in adopting the idea project by the manager group. The idea project was approved last month, and we expect the surrender and acceptance of the implementation project by 07.10.2024”, said in the response of the MSH.

KOHA has also asked the contracting company for the reason why the deadline is extended for re-projecting, but has offered no answers.

Regarding the situation surrounding Ferizaj Hospital, the University Clinical Hospital Service, which has regional hospitals under its umbrella, has not been answered.

And in Ferizaj's municipality, while accusing the Health Ministry of negligence and irresponsibly, they said extending the deadline is unwarranted.

“Tect is the deadline for the project's delivery in October, add that tender time to how much time it takes, how many similar complaints, so that the prospects before March-April are too small to start construction, and that is very disturbing and has lost sense of any courtesy of the health minister... It's a deliberate delay to come to the stage or time of new elections and then use this as something we're doing”, declared Lulzim Aliu, deputy chairman of the Ferizaj municipality.

Aliu says that patients and staff at the current hospital are facing serious conditions and insufficient spaces.

But one and a half years, for me, it proves that this man as a minister is underachiever, and that impasse is deliberately doing”, Ali stressed.

The contract for the construction of the hospital was signed in 2018 by then Minister of Health from the PDK, Uran Ismaili.

In 2021 KOHA had reported how the company that won the hospital construction tender was denounced to the Special Prosecutor by the Ministry of Health, with suspicion that it carried out only harsh works, and the same required review of the project and millions of additional euros.
