American Intelligence Officer: Ukraine aims to maintain Russian territory

Cohen said during a security industry conference that the importance of the Ukrainian Inquisition, through which Ukraine took control of some 777 square kilometers in the Russian region, remains to be seen.
Ukrainian forces crossed the border to Russia and launched a surprise offensive in the Russian district of Kursk on August 6th.

While Kiev has said it is not intended to annex the area it has taken control of, Ukrainian forces are creating protective lines and appear to be aiming to maintain a “part of that territory for a period of”, Cohen said during the summit for intelligence and national security.
“We are sure Putin will launch a counteroffensive aimed at regaining territory. I think our expectations are that it's going to be a tough fight for the Russians”, Cohen said.
Ukraine has claimed to have received 100 settlements during the offensive in the Kursk region, as Russian forces continue to advance in the Ukrainian region of Donjeck. / REL/
