Investigations of Portoferraio Carabinier co-ordinated by Livorno's Public Prosecutor's Office began from here, conducted in close synergy with fellow Livorno Investigation Units. The latter were used in tracking, monitoring and shadowing operations of the Albanian emissary, who from the province of Lucza, in contact with his associates on the island, brought drugs to the port of Pyombino, which later had the Cuban market destination.
The investigation enabled unequivocally, even in the midst of the period of Covid, the various crossings at different drug levels, which was handed over by the gang's leader to one of his countrymen, to settle on the island of Elba, which in turn managed local distributors in different island municipalities.
