Emergency Clinic Director at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, Naser Syla, has said that in the first six months of this year, over 470 thousand patients have been treated, of which 13 thousand were due to accidents caused in communications.

He has said that according to statistics within 24 hours at the QKU Emergency Centre, about 300 patients are treated.

Syla has said that a large number of patients who accept treatment are from cases of communications accidents.

“Emergency Center is charged by patients with a high number of them presenting during 24 hours. We usually have working reports that we hand over to the CKUK and KSKUK Directorate every three months, now we've compiled and handed in the second or six months of work so that the numbers are still high on patients who have sought treatment at the Emergency Center, that is, the same as last year. We have over 476 thousand and 690 patients seeking treatment at the Emergency Center during this six-month period. Despite what's been done in the renovation of Emergency Center, there's still no discount, but it's that high trend like it was last year”.

“Statistics of 24 hours at the Emergency Center until the last two months, by the time of half of May, even today there have been some 272 patients averaged in 24 hours. In the last two months, it has grown to about 311 to 313 patients within 24 hours. We've had 292 patients in the last 24 hours asking for help. In the last 24 hours of this total number of 18 patients have been from communications accidents. And if we take the six-month mark somewhere, including trauma, not just from traffic accidents, but from any trauma, any injuries reach about 13 thousand and 337 patients”, he said.

Syla has said that with the biggest problem facing this centre is that a large number of patients going to be treated are not for third-level or corporal treatment.

According to him, in the absence of the Pristina Hospital, the Emergency Centre and KKUK are playing the role of the city's hospital.

One of the biggest problems we're facing here is that a large number of patients who represent the Emergency Center are not for third-level treatment or corporal level. They may also receive adequate treatment in the Family Medicine ambulances, but there is a problem in the city of Pristina because of the city's lack of hospital and the Emergency Centre and the QKUK are generally playing the role of City Hospital. Still, we can still say that a large number of patients do not need to be treated at the CKUK personally at the Emergency Center”, he said.

In the absence of Pristina Hospital, capitals are forced to seek services at the Emergency Centre, so Syla sees the construction of Pristina Hospital necessary. Another challenge is that patients are forced to carry long hours because of overloading their respective clinics. Takes an example of Central Intensive Medicine that patients referred to for this clinic cannot send because of the lack of free beds.

The overall number of patients normally dominated patients from Pristina. When we speak for good reason as most of them, since Kosovo's regional hospitals, which are seven, have a lack of a certain profile, for example, of treating patients there such as Neurrosurgia, Toracal Surgery, then Surgery, Vascular Surgery. Then they must have been forced to send such patients to the QKUK where the framework is and to give treatment to such patients”.

The “is a large number, due to the loading of the Emergency Center, the central intensive treatment is also charged, where it is known that there are 20 beds in the CKUK, and most of the patients who are brought in by regional hospitals come in serious condition that should be locked into the device, and we also have loads of Emergency Center and central intensive care. For example, there are times when the patient should remain at the Emergency Center 12 hours or 24 hours due to the lack of central Intensive Medicine sites. Do we know exactly that other regional hospitals are very good at intensive treatment, but unfortunately they are very little exploited”, he said. /EO
