Scholz: To normalise Kosovo-Serbia relations and implement agreements!

At the joint conference with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, held Saturday in Belgrade, Germany's Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said he has also talked with the Serbian president on the topic of Kosovo.

We talked about normalising relations with Kosovo, and this is very important”, Scholz stressed. There, we have reached agreement, agreed and defined the goals that the parties must implement, and I would like to point out that we will do everything we can, that each side will make its contribution and fulfill the pledge made so that the common European perspective, namely, of integration into the European Union, has been underlined by the German Chancellor.

Once again I'm saying that we want to do everything that's possible, so that this can be achieved at a faster rate, so that we can move forward”, Scholz stressed. Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz has also underlined the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

I want to use my visit here to highlight Germany's clear stance on the European perspective of the Western Balkans once more. It is my ambition and my commitment, to help and make sure that the states of the Western Balkans, after the promise made to them 20 years ago at the Thessaloniki Summit for integration into the European Union, that after so long, these countries will have this prospect open and that this promise will be fulfilled. So there remains a promise that must be fulfilled and we want to help make this promise come true, as European integration will advance the prosperity, stability and peace in the region”, he said.

“This pledge, it has been ten years since Germany is pushing forward and is supporting through the so-called Berlin Process, and we will continue to do so further”, Scholz said further.

The next meeting of the Berlin Process will be held in October, where I will stress once again the fact that the prospect of integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union has no alternative”, he underlined.

All these issues, Scholz said he spoke to Serbia's president during the meeting. For example, I stressed that the European perspective of states and peoples in the Western Balkans is also assisted by good neighbourly reports. For reports and good neighbourly relations among countries in the Western Balkans, we need to contribute together, so I used once again the opportunity to stress the need for good neighbourly relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and its territorial and state integrity, which is an important project on the European path towards the EU”, has highlighted among other German Chancellor, who said that the need for good neighbouring the Serbian president spoke to Kosovo as well. /Radio Kosova/
