Instead of the Law for mobilization, the Ministry of Defence for Emergency Response

The governments of many countries in the world have passed laws under which men between the ages of 18 and 60 can be called to serve in the military.

But such a move cannot be made by the state of Kosovo. That's because our country still doesn't have a law of mobilization.

In view of the security situation, the presence of such a law is considered of special importance.

You should be treated with priority. We're seeing we can have repeat terrorist attacks. Probably larger than last year. Then what needs to happen for days what needs to be taken. They've developed police and units to conform to needs, but much more would have to become population mobilization, whether military or civilian”, said the retired Colonel Sylejmani.

Sylejmani estimates that in the event of the need, the number of Kosovo troops in readiness is not sufficient.

However, the same one does not see a willingness of institutions to move in this direction.

On the issue, the Defence Ministry says they are on the way to implementing a comprehensive reaction plan.

The concept constitutes one of the ministries' priorities for 2017, while we are currently in the phase of drafting the concept draft”, says the Defence Ministry's response.
