The US State Department has sought justice for Yll, Agron and Mehmet Bytyqi, the three brothers who had left the US to fight in Kosovo on the anniversary of their murder. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller wrote that “sot, authors of this brutal act remain at large”. He said they call on Serbia to carry out the investigation in this case and bring those responsible to justice.
“25 years ago, American citizens Star, Agron and Mehmet Bytyqi were killed in the custody of Serbian police. Today, the perpetrators of this brutal act remain at large. We call on Serbia again to complete its investigation and bring to justice those responsible for their death”, Miller wrote.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who has said in “X” that no one has been held responsible for that crime.
“The groups of three young Kosovo Albanian brothers, who were also American citizens, were found in a mass grave shortly after the war. Agron, Mehmet and Yll were killed in Serbian police custody, with bullets in their heads while their hands were tied. However, no one is held accountable. The era of impunity for serious crimes from Serbia must end”, Kurti wrote on Monday.
