Kosovo's “Genocide Centre requires Alidemaj be punished for genocide

The complaint has address to the Kosovo Judiciary, Prosecutorial Council, the State Prosecutor's Office and the Randa Crime Department at the Kosovo Court of Appeals.

The Pristina Foundation's decision, which the indictment against Muhamet Alidemaj, who has been convicted of war crimes, is reported to be compiled as such and not as crimes against humanity, is irresponsible and unprofessional.

“I don't know what the real motives are, which have prompted the prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor's Crime Department of the Republic of Kosovo, Ilir Morina, to compile such an act through which genocide acts committed by the Serb armed forces in Izbica to degrade to the lowest degree of crimes: in war crimes! But such an act presents a serious professional responsibility, with major consequences for lighting up what happened in Kosovo and triumphing of justice”, it says in complaint.

According to this centre, the Court's decision makes it even more serious, “because it creates the precedent that can be used by unbelievers and genocide in Kosovo as the topic of the jurisdiction of local courts, that supposedly genocide has not occurred in Kosovo, not even crimes against humanity, but only lower-level crimes: war crimes”.

The effort is called on the KDR, the State Prosecutor's Office and the Court of Appeals to exercise their influence in accordance with the competencies that have to restore Muharrem Alidemaj's case for retrial and seek re-qualification of the criminal act from war crimes to genocide, as a precondition to govern justice and put individual responsibility for his participation in genocide crime in the village of Izbica.
