According to EULEX announcement, technical agreements include essential provision of assistance from the Legal Medicine Team EULEX for IML in all technical aspects of research, exhumation and identification of missing persons during the war in Kosovo.
The technical agreement for installing container offices in the IML for a medium term has to do with the temporary installation of offices in containers from EULEX to IML, as well as aims to ensure continuation for close working relations between the EULEX Legal Medicine Team and IML personnel until the completion of equipment for repair of the IML object was damaged by fire. The offices in the container are expected to be deployed over the coming months”.
“The technical agreements signed today help increase the IML's capacities for performing work on missing persons, as provided by “The recently adopted 2012x3> Transitional Justice Strategy, said in EULEX's report.
Furthermore, the report says EULEX experts provide expertise and advice to identify unmarked or unmarked graves as well as exhumation and identification of victims from the Kosovo war and the period immediately after it.
“in particular, since 2009, EULEX experts have been actively participating in 806 field operations for finding missing persons, including 210 exhumations. The total remains of 507 persons have been identified, including 348 missing persons”, the report said.
