A police official said the shooting had been uncontrolled, and of them a citizen attending the rally had remained dead, while two others were seriously injured.
Crooks, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, shot Trump in the ear, at an outdoor rally in Butler, just outside Pittsburgh.
In published images of which the 20-year-old is reported, Croux was placed on the roof of a production plant more than 130m from the stage on Butler Farm Show.
