Trump himself said he would have died if he didn't come back. Commenting on the slow record of the incident, he told the former White House doctor, Robbie Jackson, that the bullet had grazed his ear, but that it would have hit the back of his head if he did not move.
He explained that he looked back to see the statistics of illegal immigration displayed on the big screen at his rally.
The guy I was looking at saved my life. Border patrol saved my life. If I hadn't shown that graph and turned my head to see it, that bullet would have hit me right in my head” he said.
