It has been more than a year since punitive measures against Kosovo have been imposed due to the escalation of the security situation in the country's north.
In addition to the state leaders in Kosovo, who have called for the removal of these measures, this is also required by EU High Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
To remove these measures, Kosovo has also received support from Germany.
In a response to Front Online from the German Embassy in Pristina, they have stressed that the German state supports the removal of measures against Kosovo.
From the German Embassy, however, add that Ambassador Rohde has declared that the decision will be taken by all member states.
“Sic has repeatedly said German ambassador to Kosovo, Germany supports removing measures against Kosovo. The decision now belongs to EU member states. However, all EU member states must be convinced that the needed favourable climate has been created to reach the required Resolution”, the Embassy's response said.
The measures set by the EU towards Kosovo included: the provisional suspension of working groups for a Stabilisation and Association Agreement, Kosovo's failure at high-level meetings and the suspension of bilateral visits.
Also suspended was Kosovo's funding programming, which were meant to be delivered through the Western Balkans Investment Framework and IPA 2024 ( Pre-Accession Intrusions).
