Former Emisari Gabriel Escobar is nominated by President Biden for Ambassador to Paraguay

Gabriel Escobar, the American diplomat, who by May has held the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Minister of State for the Balkans, including Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, has been nominated for US Ambassador to Paraguay. Gabriel Escobar, nominated for extraordinary and Mighty Ambassador to the Republic of Paraguay
Gabriel Escobar, a career member of the High Foreign Service, the Ministry-Council class, eventually served as Assistant Secretary of State at the European and Eurasian Bureau of Affairs at the US State Department, Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Escobar served as US Embassy Mission Vice-President in Belgrade, Serbia, as Minister for Economic Affairs of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq and as Co-ordinator for Cuban Affairs, at the Office for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the State Department.
Escobar was also the US Embassy's Deputy Mission Chief in La Paz, Bolivia, and the US General Consulate in Peshalar, Pakistan.
Escobar's previous tasks include service as Adviser for Political and Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal, and as team leader for the US Provinal Reconstruction Team in Kirkuk, Iraq. Escobar also served in the US Marine Reserve for 17 years and was honouredly dismissed in 2003.
Escobar received his Bachelor degree from Columbia University. He speaks Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Serbian, Croatian and Czech.
