By 26.07.2024 around 5 p.m., the ShKSMK has accepted urgent calls for help from Kosovo citizens with Kosovo citizenship, who were conducting their activity at the “Maja of Thate” in the Valley of Valbona.
During the descent, one of the beekeepers accidentally slipped into the abyss. The team's leader has managed to get close to the person who was hit and given first aid, but has proved unsuccessful.
Upon hearing the news, two teams have been activated and the coded operation “The That 11x1> has started.
This operation has started with full co-ordination with Albanian state institutions State Police and the ShKSMAL station in Valbona.
Initially, the nature of the accident and location is identified based on coordinates sent by the location.
The operation has been conducted in two operational directions:
1) Evacuation of people from the rock page waiting for help.
2 There were no signs of life.
Helicopter air support institutions were wasted, but the response has been negative for technical reasons.
Our rescuers, along with custody policemen and Albania's Mountain Rescue Research Team from Valbona, have been launched in the direction of the location.
Given the configuration of the terrain and the lack of air support, the evacuation of bjellists trapped on the rocky cheek of the top has lasted throughout the night.
The second squad, however, has moved toward the victim by preparing its evacuation technically to the position where it claimed the promised helicopter would land.
Even after many calls and marathon communications, no state helicopter has been provided that would transport additional and rescue equipment for the implementation of the operation, from official communications constantly had excuses of different natures.
The entire delay in the victim's evacuation was due to empty promises, not as if access to the victim was reported, rescuers have arrived at the victim in record time.
Based on the complex situation with much clarity and bureaucratic barriers, the need for private company V to be contacted IDA Helicopters, who in record and professional times carried rescuers along with equipment and finally evacuated the victim to the Valbonne Valley, where relevant authorities were awaiting them.
During the 26-hour operation, counting on the admission of the call until the return of the last SAKMK rescuer has been in direct contact with the ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Albania, Mr. Skender Durmish, who has consistently kept in touch and has been mobilised for diplomatic interconnection and offered moral and institutional support for the ongoing operation.
We invite the institutions of the Albanian state to be more co-ordinated and efficient in such cases so that such operations can be conducted with little complications and efficiency.
We express heartfelt and deep comfort to family members.
We thank all participants and all contributors to this difficult operation, God reward you.
