Defence seeks possibility of questions against Bislim Office after additional SPS questions

In Kosovo Specialised Chambers ( DPSK) in The Hague is continuing the 75th witness to the Specialised Prosecutor's Office (ZPS), Bislim Office in the trial of Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. On the tenth day of his testimony, additional questions about him are being asked by prosecutor Claire Lawson, but additional cases arose. In this regard, the defence called it unusual and asked the court to provide the possibility of counter-questioning, reports “Justice Vow “.
“A will give us the opportunity to question in fact. That new materials are coming up that I want to examine further with the witness. This is an unusual situation for us. If you're presenting such a practice for the first time, then for us it's an unusual situation”, Veselin's lawyer, Ben Emmerson, said.
The prosecutor's questions included objections to Hashim Thaci's defence through Luka Misethic, who said such questions, Lawson would have to do at first, not during the additional ones.
“These questions should be asked when asked the questions initially and not during supplementary questions”, Misethic said.
Thereafter, the chairman of the court, Charles Smith III, asked for protection to make their objections at another time.
We'll handle this part, and then when the time is right, please make your position clear or, rather, make your opposition”, Charles Smith III said.
However, Misethic again asked for an explanation for the questions of prosecutor Clar Lawson, who addressed issues especially about satellite phones used by KLA members.
“We have the request that if you don't give us a counter question then, the prosecution will make clear its position on where it wants to appear”, Misethic said.
In this regard, Judge Fergal Gaynor said this is allowed under a court ruling.
Dear Mr. Misethic, paragraph 112 of our order well addresses the question of supplementary questions. It says: The court will allow additional questions only if new materials are presented during questioning or supplementary questions. So this is allowed and you can also use material”, he said.
After completing her questions, the court approved Emmerson's request, and then the Misethic attorney continued by questioning.
During the additional questions, prosecutor Lawson asked the witness whether there were members of the General Staff outside Kosovo who gave him information.
“Outside Kosovo has been Commander-General Azem Syla”, the witness said, denying there has been another person who has done this.
The Witness was also asked whether he had contact with Kadri Wessel during his absence in Kosovo.
“Pak after turning west, we started talks with the Bukoshi Government, but not earlier”, the witness said.
The witness said Mensur Kasumi was part of the Operational Directorate but not responsible for it. He added that Kasumi had hired him to deal with G2 as long as Kadri Wessel was not.
He confirmed that the Kosovo Information Service ( SHIK) was in formation during the time of the Interim Government and not earlier.
