Marko Rossic, one of four convicted of killing Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic, has fled after nearly two weeks since the verdict was announced.
By the date 28.06.2024, the court has declared the indictment in this criminal case, where accused Marko Rossic has sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
In an answer to the Journal Express, the Constitutional Court in Pristina says the defendant was not present either in the declaration of the indictment and that after taking the decision to appoint detention, Rospic did not confirm whether he accepted the verdict or not.
“accused M. The R has been notified of the date and timing of the act. The same one has not been present at the proclamation of judgment, since it is not binding to participate in declaring judgment. The court has not been able to arrest him in the case of his conviction, since the same one has not been present in the courtroom except because he has been informed of the date and time of the proclamation. With the stated indictment, the court has assigned the accused M.R. even the detention measure, where, by the date of 28.06.2024, he has taken a special decision with which the accused has been appointed the detention measure. The decision to appoint the detention measure, the court through e-mail delivered it to him: Special Prosecutor, Kosovo Police, Lawyer Mahmut Halimi and accused M.R. (through mail). All these atrophies have confirmed the decision's admission, except for accused M. R, we still have no confirmation from the post office, whether he has accepted the verdict or not, says the court's response.
The court said that after informing Kosovo police that they have not been able to execute the court's ruling, it has immediately issued arrest warrants for securing the prosecution's presence and sending the same to custody.
The case now is with the arrest warrant for the arrest of this defendant, which the order has implemented in Mitrovica's” Police Station.
