A major logistics incident has created chaos in the portal town of Bari in Montenegro, where around 180 trucks under Croatian, Bosnian and Serb license plates have blocked major roads, preventing free movement and causing frustration among residents and drivers, completely blocking one lane of movement.
These trucks, which carried glass from a 4,000-tonn ship coming from Belgium with an undiscovered final destination, allegedly are part of the company's operation “Gitor Sh.p.k” from Pristina, owned by businessman Bledian Ramadani.
The event occurred during the removal of mosques from the ship to the port of Bari, a process that included a large number of men placed in long lines to take their load.
This unplanned logistics operation created massive blockades that paralysed traffic in the city, making free movement impossible for citizens and drivers.
A local resident, Marko Jovanovovic, who was found in the middle of the chaos, expressed his frustration:
It's too hot, weekend and beach time! The Maunas had blocked the main road and there was no way to cross. It was a wasted day for all of us. ”
Local authorities responded immediately to resolving the created situation.
Such a situation is unacceptable and has caused serious problems for our citizens. We are investigating the causes and will take the necessary measures to ensure that such an incident is not repeated. Heavy traffic has created big problems and we are committed to finding a solution as soon as possible. ” said Mr. Popovic.
Traffic leaders and police have taken immediate steps to ease the situation, putting more officials on key points to manage traffic and help restore normality in the city.
Gitor's representatives have not yet issued an official statement on the case since the name of this company has been coveted in the incident. However, it is noted that this chaos may be the result of poor logistics planning and lack of proper co-ordination.
