Beler was arrested a few days before the elections under suspicion of vote buying and sentenced to two years in prison in March.
Appeal confirmed his sentence in June.
We are in terms of losing the mandate of Mayor Himara, and we deem this mandate” invalid, Iliran Celibashi, head of the CEC, said on Friday.
Beler, with Albanian and Greek citizenship, won the May 2023 elections as the opposition candidate for the mayor of the Himara municipality, even with Greek populations in southern Albania.
He attended the session, which took place at the Central Election Commission on Friday, and was forwarded by police forces from Fieri prison, where he is serving his sentence.
